Pedigree
Tini came from the first litter I was actively involved in whelping and raising. Her dam Diana (GCH Scalloway’s The Huntress CGC TKN) belongs to Lea Bertsch of Scalloway Collies. Diana is a fun girl with a lot of drive and personality who is utterly devoted to her mama Lea. It was an absolutely amazing opportunity to be a part of this litter.
Tini’s sire, Ty, is a son of GCH Maverick Painted Lady who was Best of Variety Rough at the 2018 Collie Club of America National, and a nephew to GCHB Maverick Fanfare (2019 CCA Rough Select Bitch, 2021 Westminster BOV Rough). Ty is a gorgeous boy and we are very excited to introduce his line’s virtues into our dogs. Frank and April Trevino of Maverick collies have produced a family of dogs that truly excels in type, outline, and expression.
Little Tini was born at barely six ounces and quickly earned the nickname “Little Bit”. We weren’t sure she was going to make it, but some supplemental feeding and love from mama Diana sealed the deal. I still remember her barely fitting in my hand and now l have a whole grown dog! I started calling her “teeny tiny” as a puppy because she was smaller than the rest, and the name stuck. She came home with me as the COVID quarantine hit in March 2020, so Hold My Quarantini/Tini was a logical name combo, plus it encapsulates her “hold my beer” attitude.
Tini is a fun little firecracker who enjoys sleeping belly up and playing with her toys. I love her smooth head and lack of depth, as well as her well-angulated front and lovely, effortless movement. Her temperament is, in my opinion, her #1 virtue. She is always up for a challenge and completely unphased by new situations.
Tini has a very nice amount of drive and makes an excellent sports dog on top of conformation. She is a quick thinker and loves toys, food, and praise as reinforcers. She is somewhat vocal and sometimes decides to talk back to me when given cues. Her focus when on the job is fantastic, but she always adds a spin of her own! On top of herding, Tini trains in Scentwork, Barnhunt, Agility, Flyball, and Rally. She also loves FastCAT.
Tini is naturally keen on stock. She covers her sheep and ducks, responds well to commands and is truly a delight to work with. Every judge we have trialed under has urged me to continue in this discipline with her. I am absolutely hooked and can’t wait to see where our journey takes us! In July 2023, we attended the Rancho Terra Norte Herding Symposium in Colorado, where Tini competed FEO in a large flock continental-style trial and would have won the class. We received extremely encouraging comments from French judge and professional shepherd Benoit Voisin. She later took first place at an AHBA trial in the HTAD I class under Judge Roy Sage of HOF kennel Osage Aussies. Tini finished her HSAs title at the 2024 Collie National and earned the second leg of her HTAD I goats title in July 2024. We also plan on trying ASCA herding.
Tini and I went to the 2021 Collie Club of America national specialty where she was the youngest dog to qualify for Most Versatile Collie. To do that, she qualified in three venues: herding, rally, and conformation. Tini truly is the whole package and I am delighted by her maturity in training. We qualified for MVC again in 2022 in Salt Lake City, where Tini also won the Rally Advanced A class with a 92/100. In 2024, she got her third MVC qualification, earning qualifying scores in Herding Started A Sheep and Rally Excellent A.
Tini is co-owned and co-bred with Lea Bertsch of Scalloway Collies.
Tini was bred in 2022, and have kept her tricolor smooth son, Maël. She has decided that she would like to be my most amazing couch princess and is retired from most competitive sports. Her son has taken over as my primary performance dog.
